From my early years of swinging a hammer with my father and spending countless hours on the floor surrounded by a pile of LEGOs, I knew that I was destined to have a career in the building industry. However, it was not until I participated in an engineering event sponsored by my high school that I knew I wanted to be a structural engineer. Being able to start with nothing but an idea and turn it into a finished product that you could see, touch, and use is something that I knew I had to do. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Cincinnati in civil engineering with a structural focus.
Over my career, I have had the fortunate opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and develop a broad understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed structures. Much of my career has focused on the higher education industry, but I have also been able to work on federal, commercial, healthcare, residential, and private projects. In addition to continuing to manage projects, I am also the service lead for THP’s Structural Service group and enjoy overseeing some of the best engineers in the industry.
The relationships that I have developed along the way are just as important to me as the buildings that I design. I enjoy collaborating with both the design and construction teams and will spend countless hours producing the best solution for everyone involved. I have discovered that no challenge is too great, with some of my most challenging projects being the most rewarding when I look back on them. My goal on a project is to provide such an elevated level of service and expertise that everyone from the architect to the owner to the construction team requests me on their next project.
With my passion for engineering and devotion to THP, I am extremely blessed to have a patient wife and four very understanding children. When not at work, I spend a lot of my free time on the sidelines coaching a soccer game or cheering from the stands at a basketball game. At home, I enjoy the simple pleasures of having a family dinner on Sunday night or taking a leisurely stroll through the woods. I believe in giving back to the institutions that have helped turn me into the person that I am today, so I belong to many organizations and serve on several committees at my church and children’s school.
