Welcoming Two New Faces to the Team: Kirk Grimmelsman and Matt Hall

We’re thrilled to welcome two outstanding additions to our structural engineering team: Kirk Grimmelsman, Senior Engineering Project Manager in our Raleigh office, and Matt Hall, Project Engineer based in Cincinnati.

Kirk Grimmelsman brings a wealth of experience in structural engineering, with a career that spans applied research, academia, and consulting. His early interest in the field was sparked by his father’s work in concrete construction and was nurtured through his education at the University of Cincinnati. Expanding his focus beyond structural engineering, Kirk went on to earn a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and mechanics from Drexel University, where he also served as a research engineer. He later served as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas.

Throughout his career, Kirk has led numerous projects focused on structural performance assessment and monitoring, including a notable initiative for the U.S. Air Force involving digital twin modeling of aged concrete structures. Now in Raleigh, he’s excited to dive into the design of new and renovated structures alongside a talented team of engineers.

Matt Hall is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned his degree in civil engineering with a minor in construction management. A Cleveland native, Matt’s passion for city life and design led him to structural engineering—and to THP, where he previously co-oped during college.

Now a full-time project engineer, Matt is contributing to new construction projects across a variety of industries while pursuing a master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering. When he’s not working or studying, you’ll find him exploring Cincinnati’s vibrant food and brewery scene, playing sports, hiking, or fishing.
