I have a broad background in the field of structural engineering, including experience in a variety of applied research, academic, and consulting firm roles. My interest in structural engineering was influenced at a young age by my father who worked in the concrete construction industry. It was further enhanced by the education, co-op and research experiences I gained as an undergraduate and graduate engineering student at the University of Cincinnati.

After graduating, I spent many years as a research engineer at Drexel University in Philadelphia where I had the opportunity to explore different analytical and experimental methods for assessing and monitoring the structural performance and condition of aged and deteriorated civil infrastructure systems, including many signature bridges. I completed a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering and mechanics at Drexel and subsequently became a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas, where I taught courses in structural engineering and performed research on structural condition assessment and structural monitoring methods. Upon returning to Philadelphia I worked at a large engineering consulting firm where I was the technical lead on a variety of applied research and structural performance assessment and structural monitoring projects.

I later relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, where I was the director of applied technologies for a small engineering firm. In this position I served as a senior project manager on a challenging project for the US Air Force that was focused on assessing the present and future condition of a large population of aged concrete structures in order to produce a probabilistic digital twin of each.

I am excited to be in the Raleigh office working with a very knowledgeable and talented team of structural engineers to design new structures and renovated, which is something I did not get many opportunities to do over the course of my career.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son and our extended families, traveling, and just about any kind of outdoor activity.
