As part of THP’s Building Envelope group, I focus primarily on the assessment and restoration of building façades and roofs, providing clients with investigations, forensic assessments, condition studies, developing repair documents, details and specifications, managing projects, and providing construction administration services. My goal with each project is to understand how the building was constructed, identify the cause of the issues affecting it, and provide constructable repair solutions based on material science. I am detail-oriented, thorough, approachable, and creative. I make it a priority to have excellent communication with clients, co-workers, and contractors.
My career with THP began in 2016 when a desire to focus on the more technical and meticulous aspects of architecture led me away from an 18-year career as a residential architect specializing in designing high-end custom homes, additions, and remodeling projects. I grew up near Chillicothe, Ohio with an amateur mechanic dad and a carpenter grandpa, loving to build things or take them apart (aka breaking them) to figure out how they work and how to fix them. I realized a passion for design and decided to become an architect in middle school. In 1992, I left my small-town life for Cincinnati, earning a degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 2000. I have called Cincinnati home ever since.
I currently live in West Price Hill with my wife, teenage daughter, and son. The design expertise gained from my previous career is currently being directed into various remodeling projects for our 1938 Tudor-style brick house. Working on this and other houses I have owned or lived in has given me valuable hands-on knowledge and construction experience, including an understanding of how difficult and frustrating it can be at times.
I appreciate the time I get to spend with my family, including cooking and eating delicious food, listening to great music and hilarious stand-up comedy, and travelling. I am a fan of car racing (particularly F1 and dirt track late models), Ohio State football, and the Cincinnati Reds. My hobbies include woodworking, golfing, running, and working on/riding my motorcycle.
