THP provided parking consulting and structural engineering for the $180 million ConRAC facility at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). Our team worked with the architect to blend the structure into existing CVG facilities, assisting with the layout of entry/exit plazas for the airport’s public parking garage.

The project consolidated rental car activities and placed them closer to the airport for increased functionality and ease of use. THP’s knowledge of the local landscape benefitted the out-of-town architectural team. Our knowledge of local contractors’ specialties contributed to the decision to use cast-in-place instead of precast design. Being local also enabled our team to visit the site often for quality assurance during construction and to assess tying the new garage into existing airport facilities. 

THP’s knowledge of garage design helped determine entry/exit locations, traffic flow, bay heights, helix locations, and floor heights. We also contributed experience beyond layout design, such as where to locate fueling and fluid storage, and knowledge of the local weather with salt and corrosion considerations. Our designers also educated the team and the owner about designing a car wash system and operating it in the cold winter months.
