THP is providing structural design for this multi-year, multi-phase project to expand and renovate the 189,000 SF Clippinger Laboratory facility into modern teaching and research labs, classrooms, collaboration spaces, and faculty offices. The major component of Phase I is a new chemistry classroom and lab building to relocate critical intensive-use labs from the existing facility. Featured will be modern labs with the flexibility to accommodate various research types and future changes in various programs, sizes, and intensities.

Phase 2b focuses on the renovation of the east half of the existing Clippinger Laboratory Building to update the existing facilities to accommodate a wide variety of research types as well as future changes in programs. Our understanding of and experience with higher education lab building structures allowed us to analyze the existing structure for new loading conditions and provide early insight to the design team on the strengths and weaknesses of the existing structure.
